This isn’t necessarily a Valentine’s Day cake. I mean… Valentine’s Day may be tomorrow, but believe me this baby is really fully enjoyable at any time of year.
In fact it is super delightful any time of the day too. Honest.
So let’s just say, since the delightful chemicals in raw chocolate make you feel all lovey and euphoric that this is a Love Cake – which just so happens to be being posted the night before Valentine’s Day.
Say that instead of being sorta down and dumpy about
National Single’s Awareness Day Valentine’s Day we make this a full on chocolaty self love fest. It really doesn’t matter if you have a special somebody, if you received more Valentine’s cards than the kid beside you in junior high, or if you are flying solo. Let V Day be a special reminder that you love yourself, you saucy thing you.
Radical self love is a huge thing for me. Celebrating self. Sure maybe it sounds a bit heavy on the cheese, but it’s so so important! Think about how it feels to love somebody, now imagine how your life would change if you devoted some of that power into loving yourself. Magic, I tell ya. Pure magic.
What kinds of things might you do for your special someone, whether you are currently in a relationship or not. Might you write them a love letter or perhaps leave a little loving note somewhere for them to find? Maybe you would send them flowers? Chocolate? Dinner? Breakfast in bed? Maybe you would just tell them that they are loved with a beautiful genuine smile. They deserve it, don’t they? I mean, they are so important to you.
Now why don’t you try doing any of those things for yourself? It’s not about a pity party if you’re solo, it’s about remembering how important you are to you. You are pretty friggin’ awesome, ya know that? It doesn’t matter how many people we surround ourselves with, not reserving time to really butter up our own inner lover simply doesn’t feel good.
The power of thought is incredible. You want more love? Then love more, yourself. Start with you, start on the inside. Start by writing yourself that dang love letter.
- Buy fresh flowers (or go outside and pick something seasonal!) & split the bouquet into two. Half goes upstairs on your bedside table and half in the kitchen (or wherever else you spend a bulk of time)
- Write yourself a love letter. Read said love letter. Even better, send it in the post and open it when it arrives back to you (I bet it’ll be on a day when you really wouldn’t mind a loving word – because when do we not want loving words?)
- Write yourself love notes. Stick them everywhere.
- Prepare yourself an exquisite meal, light a candle, savour each bite. Seriously.
- Eat this chocolate love cake – it’ll love you right back.
This cake is made with raw cashews, partly raw cacao powder and partly black onyx cocoa powder. Black cocoa powder is a deep and almost smoky cocoa powder, a serious decrease in fat content makes the black alkalizing cocoa incredible for a creamy cashew cheezecake. My version is topped with drizzled raw chocolate & home dried thinly sliced persimmons. I love dried persimmon, they are sweet crisp and light lending the perfect amount of fruitiness to the dark chocolate. I tend to dehydrate in somewhat large batches for cases just like this one! Plus, they look fan-friggin-tastic, am I right or am I right?
Please visit Hipster Food blog for the recipe, they added their own beauty and wonder to the cake with dried oranges – totally divine!
Happy Self Love Celebrations, people!
